Joe Scaglione is a Lieutenant with the City of Meriden Fire Department and has been a student of the fire service for more than 20 years. Lt. Scaglione has a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Cell Biology/Biochemistry from the University of Connecticut. He is a State of Connecticut and Pro Board-certified Fire Service Instructor III and Fire Officer II and is an adjunct instructor with Naugatuck Valley Community College Fire Technologies Program, Connecticut State Fire Academy, and Wolcott Regional State Fire School. He is a NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Technician and a New Haven Area Special Hazards (NASH) Team member and a former industrial firefighter with Hamilton Sundstrand Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services. He is a certified Rescue Technician and a former member of the Connecticut USAR (CT1TF) Task Force Team. Lt. Scaglione is a member of the IFSTA validation committee and served on Essentials 7th & 8th edition and on Fire Inspector Code Enforcement 9th edition. He is Certified State of Connecticut Fire Marshal who served as Deputy Fire Marshal for the Towns of Portland and Wolcott, CT. Lt. Scaglione has presented this presentation at the IAFC Hazardous Material Conference in Baltimore, Md. Albert (Albe) Bassett is the Fire Chief with the New Canaan (CT)Fire Department. He has 29 years of fire service experience. Prior to becoming Fire Chief, he was with the Norwalk Fire Department as the Assistant Chief of Administration. Previously he was the department training officer and a shift commander. Chief Bassett is a NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Technician and currently one of the team leaders for the Fairfield County Hazardous Incident Response Team. He is a certified rescue technician and member of the Connecticut USAR team. Chief Bassett is an adjunct instructor with Naugatuck Valley Community College and the Connecticut Fire Academy. He is a member of the NFPA Hazmat Standards Committee. Chief Bassett is certified to Fire Service Instructor 3 and holds a B.S. degree in Fire Technology and Administration, an MBA from the University of New Haven, and a Masters in I/O Psychology from Walden University. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Walden University.
